-The World Cup and hot summer weather combined to push like-for-like beer sales up by 2.9 per cent in the second quarter of this year, the first rise since the second quarter of 2006, according to the British Beer & Pub Association. Pub beer sales were down 6.3 per cent but sales in supermarkets and off-licences were up 13.7 per cent.
